Meaning

What the aarti says, in simple English.

Victory to Mother Saraswati, rich in virtue and glory, famed in the three worlds. Moon-faced and seated on a lotus, her radiance is auspicious; she rides a swan and shines with matchless brilliance. She holds the veena in her left hand and a rosary in her right, with a jewelled crown and a pearl necklace. She uplifts all who seek her refuge; by entering the mind of the maid Manthara she set in motion events that led to Ravana's end. Giver of learning and wisdom, fill us with the light of knowledge and destroy the darkness of delusion and ignorance. Accept our incense, lamp, fruits and dry fruits, give us the eye of wisdom and free the world. Whoever sings this aarti gains wisdom, devotion, well-being and happiness.
