Meaning

What the aarti says, in simple English.

Victory to Shani Dev – place your lotus hand on my head; I wave the aarti and serve you with all my heart. Son of Surya, your fame is boundless; even Shesha with a thousand tongues would lose inspiration describing you. You are the greatest of the nine planets and your power is great – whoever you bless turns from pauper to king. You taught a lesson even to King Vikrama, founder of an era and full of merit, when he became proud; Ravana grew proud through Shiva's boon, and when your Sade Sati came you destroyed him root and branch. You showed your miracle and, after bringing Vikrama to the stake, restored his honour. How many of your virtues can I sing – I am never satisfied. Be kind to the humble, great Lord. With folded hands Rakhma stays absorbed at your feet and asks only this prasad: show us happiness in the time of rising fortune.
