Tamasika
Spoken by Agni, the fire god, to sage Vasishtha, it is the encyclopedia among the Puranas – covering avatars, temple building, image making, statecraft, medicine, grammar, poetics, music and even archery.
A story from this Purana
Agni tells Vasishtha that whoever knows this Purana understands every branch of learning – which is why it was traditionally treated as a reference work rather than a story book.
