महापुराण १३ · Tamasika
The largest of all the Puranas, named after Skanda (Kartikeya). It is a vast guide to India's sacred geography – from Kashi and Kedar to Ujjain and Puri – and the Reva Khanda contains the Satyanarayan Vrat Katha.

A story from this Purana
To defeat the demon Tarakasura, who could only be killed by a son of Shiva, the six Krittikas nursed a radiant child born of Shiva's energy. Six-faced Kartikeya became the commander of the gods and destroyed Taraka.
