What the aarti says, in simple English.
Perform the aarti of beloved Hanuman, who destroys the wicked and carries the power of Shri Ram. Mountains tremble at his strength and disease and misfortune cannot come near him. Son of Anjani, giver of great strength, he is always the helper of saints. Sent by Ram with the betel-leaf of honour, he burned Lanka and brought news of Sita, crossing the fortress and ocean-like moat without delay. He destroyed the demons and accomplished the work of Sita-Ram. When Lakshman lay unconscious at dawn he brought the Sanjeevani herb and saved his life. Entering the netherworld he tore out the arms of Ahiravan. With his left arm he slays demons and with his right he rescues saints. Gods, humans and sages perform his aarti, chanting his victory, and Mother Anjana herself waves the golden plate of camphor. Whoever sings this aarti dwells in Vaikuntha and attains the highest state.
Aartis are sung with small differences from region to region and family to family – if your family sings it differently, both are right.
