What the aarti says, in simple English.
The secret of the Vedas and the essence of the scriptures has been spread out in everyday Marathi words; its deep teaching of karma, worship and knowledge brings the Self within reach merely by reflecting on it. Refrain: Victory to Manobodh (Samarth Ramdas's ‘Manache Shlok’) – we offer you the aarti of our five life-breaths, O purifier of the self. Know that it has two hundred and five shlokas; the seeker who hears and understands them reaches the goal. It is a complete and easy path to the highest truth – the very life of Yashwant, servant of the Sadguru.
Text as printed in the Marathi Arati Sangrah – sanskritdocuments.org (1999 edition, supplied by Pothipuran). Aartis are sung with small differences from region to region and family to family – if your family sings it differently, both are right.
