तेथुनिया जळ निर्मळ वाहे झुळझुळा ॥ जय देव ॥

जय देव जय देव जय श्री शंकरा ।

Meaning

What the aarti says, in simple English.

Awesome and vast, Shiva wears the universe as a garland; his throat is dark with poison and fire burns in his third eye. The beautiful Ganga sits on his head and pure water flows from there in a gentle stream. Victory to Shankar – we wave the aarti before you, O one white as camphor. Innocent and wide-eyed, with Parvati as his half, garlanded with flowers, smeared with ash and blue-throated – so shines the beloved of Uma. When gods and demons churned the ocean, the deadly halahal poison arose and you drank it, becoming famous as Neelkanth. Wearing tiger skin and serpents, enemy of Kama, five-faced and captivating, giver of joy to sages – Ramdas holds the seed-mantra of Rama within his heart.
